Safe or Out

When I was a kid I used to say things to my dad like, "I was safe." My dad would reply, "No you were out, I know so because I saw the umpire call you out." He was aware that umps can make mistakes, but he did not want me to ever blame someone else for the outcomes of games or reject authority just because I did not like their rulings in isolated cases. So on Monday night, Matt Holliday was safe at the plate in the game against the Padres. I know so cause I saw the umpire call him safe.

30-3--Honestly

I have seen some pretty lopsided scores in ball games. But most of them are in Little League orin Church League Slow Pitch Softball. But I have not seen a Major League game with one team scoring 30 runs in a single game. And you haven't seen that either, unless you are well over a hundred years old, because the last time it happened was in 1897!
